mick miller
Redding, reloading solutions. Great guys to deal with. or splurge and go for an LE Wilson hand die.
zx10mike
neck sizing only is flawed imo.just set your die so it only bumps the shoulder back one tho.
mick miller
Then your sizing the whole case body. Please explain how 'neck sizing is flawed'?
zx10mike
its flawed because the amount of times i have seen people turn up on the range and there rounds wont all chamber.this is because each time you fire it the case stretches a bit more.this tells me the internal volume of the case is different after each shot until you have to bump the shoulder back (changing internal volume yet again ) and start again.if you full length you will never have that problem on the range or in the field and your cases are a total constant from one to the next.my die is reamed out with the same reamer that cut my chamber so best of both.i also full length none custom chambers / dies for the same reason.not saying this if for all just my belief. mick miller
lol. The one in my reloading drawer must be imaginary then!
snow white
If you have thats fair enough i had trouble getting a set of dies for my 17 hornet.
mick miller
Dies, no problem. Neck sizing, no problem. Form & trim (22 hornet to 17 hornet), no problem. I use Reloading Solutions, Roding Armoury and Spud. Between those three anything is easy to source. activeviii
I put the links above for the neck sizing that are in stock. dauntsey only show actual stock. Sorry to say but who ever is getting a die cut with the same reamer that is used to cut the chamber has been done over. what about the brass reflex. you need 0.02" smaller die to form the case or the brass will not chamber without force. yes for a seating or shoulder bump die but not for full length neck size the 17hh will work fine. if you test fit after neck sizing and it starts to go a little tight then yes, full length. you should get 4-5 firings with neck only but in a 223 i have not full length sized in over 10 firings. ok i anneal every time, and this in its self will cause less spring back and less work hardening
