steve_b_wales
I've reloaded quite a few rounds of the above calibre, using a 32gr bullet with H4895. I now have some 39gr but the Hodgdon data chart only shows a 40gr bullet using this powder. It states Min 26.0 grn Max 27.7 grn Would it be okay to use 26grn with the 39gr bullet, or reduce/add the load a little? I want to try a few different loads to find the one suitable for my rifle. foosa
Hi steve, I've loaded 39g blitzking on h322 and blc2 using data for the next heaviest bullet (40g) off the hodgdon chart.
steve_b_wales
Hi steve, I've loaded 39g blitzking on h322 and blc2 using data for the next heaviest bullet (40g) off the hodgdon chart. Thanks mate. I think I'll try a couple with the minimum charge of 26grn and check them out.
maxwell
Steve, using 40 gr data should be fine, or build a few singles from 26gr in increments of 0.2 up to stated max, startling from the 26gr and check your primers as you go. steve_b_wales
UPDATE: I've just had an email from Hodgdon USA, after I asked them for their advice/opinion, and they stated that as long as the bullet construction is the same, I can use the same load for a 39gr as the 40gr. I'll make up a few later in the week and keep an eye on any pressure signs.

Possibly, but always handy to have more information regarding this calibre and reloading. Thanks.

steve_b_wales
Reading up on the link sent by activeviii, it shows that using my powder (H4895) I can work a load from 24.1 (Min) (3200fps) to 26.5 (Max) (3600fps) I'll try a few different ones soon, but will look at something around 26grn which should produce around 3500fps. steve_b_wales
Update 2. I made a batch of 39gr Sierra BK with H4895 and found that 25.5 gr gave me the best result. I had an average of 3536 fps with a 39gr and 3757 using a 32gr bullet. I'm pleased with the results and look forward to thinning out a few ground feeding Corvids when I get a chance. pestcontrol1
Hi Steve i use H4895 in my 204 with 39 sbk an 32-40 vmax an even now with 35gn berger its a very good powder in the 204 but i found that i have to use BR primers. Without going to my man cave i can"t remember what powder drop i used with the 39sbk but it gave 5p size groups at 200 yards and it was"t a hot load. Its a great little rifle an very very accurate

pestcontrol1
I found out if you push the bullets to fast its no good i found out the expanded on the surface and would"t do the damage they should do an fox would run so slowed them down to around 3450-3600 and they did what they are ment to do. The 39s shot spot on throw my Howa shot mine out to 600 yards when the weather was right lol they don"t like wind much at long range lol
