Ollieollie
Hello All, Has anyone done this, i want to not really convert my van but to separate the back into two sections, one up one down with half of the lower section being a dog area(crate size) with a cage type door, van is a new transit custom. So my questions are: 1. What size timber & ply do you suggest? I am thinking 2x2 timber and 12mm ply 2. Where do i fix to without doing major damage(in a water pipe behind the plaster board way) All advice much appreciated!! Cheers Ollie
loriusgarrulus
We are converting a Crewe Cab Vauxhall Movano to a camper. OH found all the plans for safe drilling areas and schematics. He bought the plans from ebay called Vauxhall 2012 workshop service manual on 2 discs and also requires the installation of a virtual machine called the M ware player. Ford plans might be available too.
scotslad
It will depend on wo sort of wieght etc u plan on having above the dog box area, if heavy tools need heavier timber/ply. I looked at doing something similar in my smaller van but it was easier and cheaper just to use dog crates, cable tied 2 together which fitted quite neatly in back, i put a 12mm ply supported across the wheel arches to give so storage sapce in below crates and had a timber shelf on top of crates for light wieght stuff (but it was only6mm ply and supported by the crates so fine for game bags jackets etc),i also attached some 3mm ply to sides of crates and gave me more room to stuff stuff down sides and dogs could not chew or pull it into crates. It still gave me the side door access at normal floor level for any heavy stuff. Using crates it was also quite easy to remove them if i ever nedded extra room just snip a few cable ties. When u start buying timber ur not long in the price shooting up.
ph5172
I have bought ply lining kits before. They are pre cut with indicators (or plans) for fixing. I planned out where i wanted racking or shelving, screwed a baton direct to the ply (so it sits behind) and put a mark where it runs I have then just screwed timber frame work to that The pre cut kits appear to say sides 6mm, wheel arches and floor 9mm This may give you a general idea. http://www.plylineinstallation.co.uk/index.html Edited September 3, 2016 by ph5172
