Walker570
I have some rats taking up residence under a pheasant feeder. I don't have a night vision scope and obviously shining a lamp onto the spot doesn't help. When hunting in Texas, I saw solar powered lights under deer feeders which came on at dusk and then went off come daylight. These were to allow shooting of hogs after darkness fell. The hogs got used to the dim light being there over night and came to feed. They learned pretty quickly so each feeder was shot in sequence. I was wondering if a similar set up with a cheapy Aldi solar garden light would work. Anyone tried it ?
bumpy22
makes sense. i used to shoot foxes in a orchard and we set up a light as said which was left on during the hours of darkness. i would then sit in the shed there and shoot them under the dim light, which they got very happy with coming to. Benthejockey
A fenn trap would probably be more effective. I've had a family of 6 in about 10days eating my turkey corn in the MIL's log shed. Heard them fighting in the log pile one night. They were new traps and they were catching within a couple of days. I've got on top of them now but there is a short tailed one running around that needs to meet its maker after dodging the full wrath of the fenn! steve_b_wales
A friend of mine in Virginia does the same. He has lights that come on at dusk. He sits in his cabin on his ranch and shoots Coyotes that are not afraid of the light, and are attracted to the bait he puts down.
Walker570
I think I will make a visit to Aldi tomorrow the weather dictates indoor play anyway. They are only a few quid so worth a try. I do have some Fenns but seeing them whirl there tails is much more satisfying.
