krazy_horse
Have been thinking outside the box a bit, anyone tried one of these as a bouncer? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brookite-Telescopic-Windsock-Flag-Pole-Ground-Stake-Festival-Camping-Caravan-/112047242877?var=&hash=item1a16893e7d:m:m-EQYOBvynpFKGWidiDOuYg Thinking of getting a 3m one - though not sure if it will support the weight of a bird... Thoughts? JB
TIGHTCHOKE
I very much doubt it will support a dead bird, probably okay with a sillosock though as long as it doesn't turn over.
deny essex
A bit long and think you would have to remove the top 2 or 3 sections to make it strong enough to take a real bird or plastic decoy. I use a cpl of what was originaly 2+ mtr whips from the old 99p shop. Top 2 sections removed it handles a full bodied plastic with wings , used on a swivel peg that moves with the wind and has a nice bounce to it . Are we talking S&M/bondage or something else? Thanks, JB

krazy_horse
I did not know they were called whips! Some of them look like they compact right down to nothing! JB
Dave-G
They are black fibreglass - which less rigid than carbon fibre.

JB yep they do, mine collapse down to about 50/60 cm, you would need to make a ground spike by removing the end bung and slip out what top joints you feel are too weak to use, glue in a piece of dowel or old broom handle shaped semi flat on opposing side's so it wont twist so easily in the ground to the bottom section. Glue a 60 to 80 mm length of steel or ally round tube to the top section of the end joint to take the pressure of a thumb type decoy fitting . Walker570
Yep, the fishing whips work great and very cheap. I do make a short steel pipe(6inches) to go in the ground which the whip fits into, then suspend a floater with fishing line from the tip. A gentle wind/breeze has them dancing about. I believe I thought of this before our 'Cornish Lad' who has demonstrated them at Game Fairs. Works brilliant on crows/rooks. Try and find some of the flexible thin rods used for pushing/pulling electric wire through conduit. I have some and have made a couple of bouncers with these. You have to insert them in a slightly stiffer rod, or as I do use two in a v shape which has the decoy bouncing close to the ground like a feeder.
