Clubshot
Was hearing reports @ my Clay Shoot last Sunday. On how the price of Lead had increased in the last year and how the price of Shot Gun Cartridges would be rising. Checked out the London Metal Exchange web site last week www.lme.co.uk And saw that the current price of Lead is around $800.00 per ton Up by 60 % since last September 2003 That's raw material , let alone increased power , labour and transport charges. Express and Eley have just raised there prices by £6.00 per 1,000 With talk of further price rises in the pipe line. BOB/R
webber
Clubshot You are spot on about the price of cartridges going up. I bought 500 from my regular supplier, he told me about the increase, and showed me the new lists. He sold me the cartridges at the old price, but said that when his next delivery arrived that they would all have to go up. Fortunateley lead is only one component, and we are spoilt for choice in Britain, so competition between the various manufacturers is keen. webber
Jonnyni
Heard the same thing on Fri. when I was buying cartridges. we where told buy the dealer that all manufactures are putting up prices at around 2.00 quid a box ie 250 due to the increase of lead prices. Hammergun
You should bear in mind that the price of lead, copper, aluminuim and steel has been depressed over the past few years which gives the appearance of a greater price rise. ernyha
Bought 250 a couple of weeks ago and my local dealer was most apologetic that they had gone up again by £2.50, the second such increase in 6 months. He actually showed me his paperwork to prove that he was only passing on the increase to himself and not making anymore money out of them, saying that the price of lead had increased by 50% in the last 12 months. :< Hope this is not a ploy to make the toxic shot more competitive with non toxic.
