Alpha Mule
I'm about to start reloading in earnest (OK, my numbers will be small, but I want to move away from factory assembled completely). I've just had .243 added to my ticket, so will be looking to run those and my .22-250 through it. Any suggestions on what I need? I'm not looking for bells and whistles, just something that will do the job. Cheers.

Exudate
Chrony F1 is very well built, affordable and has served me faultlessly well over the past 7 years.
station
MagnetoSpeed Sporter lovely bit of kit These are very good - we have one and even after 12 months no one has managed to hit any part of it with a round !
ZG47
Chrony F1 is very well built, affordable and has served me faultlessly well over the past 7 years. Been using a Chrony F1 for a least twice as long. Only problem has been the nut behind the butt. They also give you excellent instructions. The only other people who do that are Oehler! mick miller
My thinking is Prochrono, if I can get the add on that allows wireless connection to a mobile device that is. Can't see the point of the magnetospeed, why pay nearly £400 for a chrony that can't be used while you develop a load without acting as a barrel tuner? fortune
we have one and even after 12 months no one has managed to hit any part of it with a round ! some years ago > Pre Ban. when I bought mine I was told not to do as a pistol shooter had done. Matey boy rocks up to the range and everyone gathers round to see this new > then: gadget. Matey boy sets the chrono up on a tripod gets his handgun out and fires the first round upon which the crono completely explodes in a lot of plastic bits. Instead of shooting over the top of it he had aimed at the window in the front. All of the assembled blokes fell about laughing at this expensive ( Complete write off) mistake. My 270 at full chat blew mine on the tripod over and the front plastic window got a bit pitted by the excess burning powder from the muzzle and that was about 6 foot in front. trying to reload without a chrono is like trying to drive a car without a speedo. You dont know what speed you are actually doing. it's all guess work. PS. in hyndsight I would cover the speed display window with either a couple of layers of clingfilm or some see through plastic sheet cut out from a bubble pack or similar to protect the display screen from burning powder blast damage. mick miller
That's why I want the wireless add on for the pro chrono, I can put a bit of steel in front of the chrono screen to protect it as I don't need to see it.
fortune
good thinking batman. get a lump of half inch plate and fix it so if it does get hit, the plate don't become a flying hammer to beat the chrono. recently I was surprised by little ole 1.7 hmr penetration when a mate used the side of a trailer as a target. the bullet penetrated through about 3mm thick plate and left a clean hole from about 60 paces.
