ElvisThePelvis
Hopefully not just another hmr vs .22lr question as I have a few specifics. The land has been cleared for both in the past (although not shot across for 4 years) but I have a dilemma. I had originally applied for .22 or but having been out with a friend yesterday and seen the limitations first hand in terms of range and also how flat some of the areas are I'm wondering whether hmr is a better shout. The ground isn't flinty and some of the areas are not safe for anything but I like the idea of a little more range and flat shooting for lamping, is the only downside the noise aspect? A simple solution would be to have both but I only really want one bunny gun.. I don't want to consider any of the larger calibres as I have also asked for 243 and I would prefer not to have any cross over.
wymberley
I use the HMR in daylight and the LR at night. Not being glib or silly here, but if you really want to learn to shoot, start with the LR. There's countless thousands of shooters that would vouch for this. stevieknuckles
If it's range you want go for the hmr, the sonic crack can be quite loud but with a light breeze it's not so bad. Plus with the ballistic tip ammo the likelihood of a ricochet is less than the 22lr ammo.
bruno22rf
If your ticket says .22 Rimfire you might get away with a .22WMR??
