NickB65
We put about 150 down last year and it was great to see them fly this year - the noise they make is quite unique and the tail feathers are so long.......
bakerboy
Are they not a territorial bird? One shoot I have been on wanted them shot, where as another there was the standard £50.00 fine, which I take it you had to pay.
Walker570
Was given a dozen with our other poults many moons ago. Four of them cock birds. They drove every other pheasant out of the pen and cover. Wouldn't fly either. Like some Guinea Fowl we had, similar problem, shot the them out of the tree to get rid. NickB65
Didn't seem to have a problem with them driving others out and they flew well this season. Although we ask for them not to be shot we last 20+ and some we have sent away to be mounted and they should look nice.
Walker570
Pleased yours worked out. Yes , they are a handsome bird. This last autumn we had a cock bird dropped in the village. It was so tame you could almost pick it up. Fed round our bird table for a week or so and then a friend said he saw it walking down the lane to the next village. I came to the assumption that it had been dumped from a collection because of it being aggressive to other birds as ours where. Shot down at Hungerford Park back in the late 80s and they had a lot of Lady Amersts. Now they are spectacular when they fly, with their long flowing tails. rimfire4969
We had a few problems with the few we put down shot them in the pen they were guarding. Where abouts was the shoot?
