adi786
Hi Guys Just wanted to confirm as not 100%, bought gun from shop, had some issues.. s poken with them and they said they will arrange a collection of shotgun from home using parcel force.. once they fix the gun, they will send it back to my closes rfd... so they said they can get it picked up from my residential address but delivery wise it will go to rfd only... Can someone confirm if that can be done.. i.e. rfd/gunshops can arrange collection of shotgun using parcel force from home to them? thanks

Newbie to this
I've got to say I haven't got the foggiest, but I would think it might work like this as they are initially picking the shotgun up from the licence holder (as the only person with access), but couldn't guarantee that when delivering back that the licensee would be there to collect or they wouldn't take responsibility for delivering to a licensee, hence only returning to a RFD. Like I said haven't got the foggiest though just a guess.

Shepe
Would you have to verify that the courier driver is a cert holder, surely if they aren't then you are providing a non certificate holder access to your gun? HDAV
Would you have to verify that the courier driver is a cert holder, surely if they aren't then you are providing a non certificate holder access to your gun?No there is an exemption (couriers and warehousemen ) same as there is for police on duty and other crown servants. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/518193/Guidance_on_Firearms_Licensing_Law_April_2016_v20.pdf In some (very restricted) circumstances certain categories of people may be authorised by the Act to have in their possession firearms and/or ammunition without a certificate, but not to purchase or acquire. Such people might include licensed slaughterers, a person taking part in theatrical, television or film productions, warehouse operatives or carriers (see Chapter 6) and those authorised under section 7 of the Firearms Act 1968. See also Chapter 6, paragraph 6.13 and Chapter 25, paragraph 25.9, about firearms that may have been found amongst the property of somebody who has died. Chapter 6 also includes details of other exemptions from the need to have a certificate, including the use of borrowed rifles on private premises, as does Chapter 18 on clubs. See also chapters 15 and 27. Edited February 28, 2017 by HDAV

Red-dot
You don't need to show your SGC for sending but you do for collection. Hence the RFD one way.
CharlieT
Parcelforce account holders can carry firearms for delivery to a RFD. See their terms and conditions.
