hello, just thought this might be of interest to PW members of a certain age :rolleyes: on reading this it looks like you have to live to 100 to realy benifit and if thats you a very good luck, the way i have been feeling lately i thought i might have an early brexit :lol:

Yes of course, it is interesting that if you feel you will not reach the magic century it is not worth topping up your state pension.

Aged 73 I looked at the scheme. To gain £25 per week I would need to invest £17,950 !!

£25 per week = £1,300 per year and £17,950 divided by £1,300 = 13.8 years before break even i.e. Aged 86. And, if I die along the route any remaining balance in my pot would remain with HMG.

 

It's not worth my joining the scheme. Best to hang on to my cash and draw down £25 per week (when needed) until I die.
