vampire
As title, went to emergency call out last night,3rd floor of a 4 year old town house into the airing cupboard which now resembles a shower a sealed cylinder with a large expansion vessel that had corroded so badly it had exploded with what sounded like a door being slammed according to the owner. Water gone through all floors to the entrance hall with lights now looking like waterfalls. Just isolated water/electrics and called there gas contract insurance for them. No charge from me but have never seen a vessel rupture like that must have been corroding from inside !

figgy
The rubber Blaser inside must have punctured and allowed the steel outer to rust. Usually when the bladders go you get people complaining of the hot water coming out so fast it sprays out of the sink before settling down. Did these folk have no symptoms before hand. If the diaphragm had gone then surely the safety relief valve would have opened due to the expansion vessel not taking up the expansion of the water? Del T
It must have made a right old mess! Would like to know the make of the vessel so I can steer clear! I've seen plenty of failed vessels but it's normally a tiny weep or the crusty residue where the seam is , plus the usual full of water and not taking up the expansion causing prvs to open. m3vert
Don't fancy that happening one little bit! I think the vessel in our loft is about 300ltrs if I remember correctly! That would make a nice mess!!! I am guessing there is no way to inspect these vessels??
