impala59
As the title, does anyone know of a stockist for this round profile belt? approx 1/4" x 18.5" I've tried the usual on line searches to no avail and no response yet fro Clarke. I hope the PW massive will have an answer
ditchman
is it re-enforced rubber like a fan belt or is it made from leather like the old fashioned sewing machine belts ?
amateur
Won't this do it - cut it to length and superglue or heat to join? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6MM-polyurethane-Round-drive-belting-various-machinery-/292055490585?hash=item43ffdd2019:g:0ogAAOSw1vlUvQOG Edited April 12, 2017 by amateur

amateur
Spot on Sir! Thank you, I knew PW wouldn't let me down! It came to mind from helping my (now retired) clockmaker father get his little lathe working.
welshwarrior
Clarke are quite good at parts support.
Mr.C
That's the stuff. Slice across diagonally and join with a hot knife to the right length. I use it on an 1890 treadle lathe at work, much more control than these modern electric jobs.
impala59
Got a reply from Clarkes, the belt and postage was 3 times the cost of the 'make it yourself' one and I will have enough to make 3 belts!

activeviii
Got a reply from Clarkes, the belt and postage was 3 times the cost of the 'make it yourself' one and I will have enough to make 3 belts! put a staple in so it bridges the cut ends and then hammer so its in-bedded in the belting. just adds a little more mechanical strenght
impala59
Sounds like a plan, I'm doing it tonight, will update
impala59
So easy to do! A couple of seconds with the old zippo, hold together until cool and a solid joint is made. I shall leave the surplus in the car as a 'get you home' belt. Didn't need a staple, it's a solid joint, but if it gives out I shall bear that option in mind. Thanks for the pointers gentlemen, I am much obliged
