17 bullets.

Recommended Posts

17 bullets are thin on the ground. Between Nosler and Hornady I can get 25gr HP and tipped but I read somewhere that Berger do a 30gr. Anyone know where I might get some?

And will they be ok in a 1:9 twist?

not sure you can get the bergers here in the UK. Besides, in the hornet the 30gr bullet is too much. It will be long to load and single shot only, plus they are slow as they take up a lot of case volume to get them seated. A 9 twist is normally fine for 30's but will be iffy at hornet speeds.

Stick to 25's or lighter. Not sure what is around, but the 20gr vmax is the perfect hornet bullet.

They do take some beating I'll agree Rick and I'll always have some 20 or 25 with max load for the foxes but I'd like to try some downloaded 30s for the bunnies. It is the velocity that does the damage. And I don't mind a slightly loopy load because anything more than 75yds will be an improvement over the 22lr.

There's some 30gns Berger for sale on ukvarminting right now.

Thanks for the heads up rimmie. I've been over there and said I'd have em but they've got me on moderation cos I asked too many questions. They told me to go google.

I've pmed the guy also but just have to see if he replies. Perhaps not a good move if they work out great and I can't get any more. I'll give em a go though. All part of the reloading fun right?
