quentyn
hi all does anyone do a 20g subsonic steel load ? or come to think about it a 20g 28g no7 or 8 subsonic clay load the only 2 i have found commercially are compx magnasonics in 21g and hush power 30g no 5 - both are good rounds but i am looking for 2 others that meet 2 specific needs Q
Saltings
sadly steel and subsonic do not go together as steel is lighter than lead you need speed to achieve enough striking energy to kill clay or game, you may be able to send heavy shot slower / quieter but it will be expensive

motty
If its for a hushpower, not sure steel is a good idea, due to the thick plastic wads.
Guest cookoff013
i`m not saying it cant be done, but why? did you know that subsonics in lead are hard enough, even though there is a ton of info there. 20gauge subsonics 28g-30g would be difficult to find info for, i`ve never seen any data. letalone data that could be good and work in this application. nb, low powder charges to reduce the gas -sonic crack. shells that are slow can still go boom. quentyn
If its for a hushpower, not sure steel is a good idea, due to the thick plastic wads. aah you make a great point, if I go hevi shot, tungsten, bismuth can i use normal fibre wads ? sadly steel and subsonic do not go together as steel is lighter than lead you need speed to achieve enough striking energy to kill clay or game, you may be able to send heavy shot slower / quieter but it will be expensive = great point - are there place that will make up small batches of say 30g hevishot/ tungsten matrix etc in 20g subs ? I personally wouldn't worry too much about the houses, unless they are extremely close.
