GrPigeon
Hey guys, I am from Greece, and I am trying to find Wood (ramier) pigeons. Any breeder in Europe will do me! Please let me know their contact details if you know any! Cheers

columbus
Grpigeon are they a type of fancy pigeon, the only wood pigeon we have in this country are truly wild birds that are not bred in captivity.
Cranfield
"Pigeon ramier" is our "Columba palumbis", the wood pigeon. I have heard it called this, in France and Spain. GRPigeon, I suggest you will have more luck finding breeders in France. I have heard of them being bred there, but I have no details. dead-eye-dick
On the upside - if you can't find the birds on any one day, you can shoot your decoys.. :(

ernyha
Well you only missed a couple of letters out mate, you need to be a bit more "disciplined" with your spelling. 8-) Think they probably tether the pigeons, but not sure. Cranfield
The birds are tethered and some have their wings clipped. There are normally, two birds either end of a perch (a bit like a budgies swing) and they are hoisted by rope pulleys into the tops of the trees. When pigeons are seen nearby, the pigeons are encouraged to flap their wings (I think by jerking the string). They are used in fixed locations, with the pulley systems as permanent fixtures. I have never heard of them being used on crops or open fields, only woodland.
