Pointy Hat
Hi all. Can ballistic tipped ammo legally be used on a regular shooting range? I know expanding ammo cant but I'm not sure about the other one. Reason I'm asking is because ammo isn't always so easy to come by here and the only .308 ammo available here is ballistic tipped, so I want to be sure before I buy it. Cheers. Scotty99
If it's an MOD range then no, only FMJ allowed. If it's a private range you will need to speak to the owners. Either way if you are shooting .308 there is a plentiful supply of FMJ rounds available.

saddler
FMJ or Open Tipped Match are ok. (Sierra Match King) Most FMJ that are for sale online will be listed as 7.62 bullets rather than .308 bullets.

team tractor
In the latest basc magazine they are on about this very subject . They said they now class ammo as all the same now. I'll try and put a picture up later of the page.
Savhmr
I know plenty of people using TMKs and Amax ballistic tips on ranges (including military).
