evolution380
Hi All, Just trying to pick up a cheap .22 air rifle, I don't want to spend a massive amount as I have the money tucked away to get myself a browning 525/725 once my shotgun certificate clears which is my main interest for clays. I do have a target range not too far away which I'd like to visit here and there and also I think it would be handy to have an air rifle alongside a shotgun to try and obtain shooting permissions on small vermin rabbits, rats and squirrels, clearing barns etc. To start with for any weary landowners with hope to progressing to decoying etc. Ideally I don't want to be spending anymore than £200 for the gun, scope and sleeve. I like the look of these probably most from what I've seen in my rather small budget, would this be suitable? Or any other suggestions? https://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/stoeger-x20s-a-tac-tactical-synthetic-combo-4-16x40ao-cal-198 https://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/gamo-superpower-pack-rifle-and-accs-22 Edited July 11, 2017 by evolution380

Ultrastu
As with the other thread from the other day .guy asked the same thing . My advice is try and shoot any gun you fancy the look of .irrespective of cost . Some with be harsh and jumpy with poor triggers .others better and sweeter .often in 2 identical guns . Go for the one with the crispest trigger and least recoil The lower recoil will most likely mean its more powerful .too Possibly ?

Ultrastu
How does that work then?Well .a gun that is running efficently with the piston compressing the air and delivering it through the transfer port to the pellet .and the pellet starting to accelerate down the barrel having started to move at the correct piint in the piston recoil /surge cycle .will deliver more power /muzzle energy , than a .gun that doesnt . A springer is a delicate balancing act between many factors . Piston weight length of stroke . Preload ,spring lengnth .transfer port size and length ,bore size /length. And many many more factors .but not least pellet type .
Wingman
That's a great explanation, thanks!
