meandassey
Hi all Im about to start knocking on doors to find some pigeon shooting and I was wondering if any maps show farm boundaries, as I want to knock on the correct door and not cheese off anyone. So, how can I tell where one farm ends and then next begins? Cheers for any help
Steve
I don't think you'll cheese anyone off if you get the wrong house mate. It's best to get definite clarification from the landowner as to what exactly he owns anyway, as these farmers rent and sell bits of fields etc so often that any map you get will likely be inaccurate. Just remember to be polite and look smart and I think most people will be more than helpful. Whatever you do, don't turn up in full cammo with your gun over your shoulder just expecting to start straight away! Let us know how you get on. Cranfield
The trouble with looking for pigeon shooting at this time of the year, is that the Farmer is not suffering too much damage,(well not around here). It is usually more profitable late Summer. Don,t forget, if any Farmer mentions the Kent Pigeon Club or any other Pigeon/Vermin Control Club/Group, try to get a contact name and phone number from them. Once you have got permission it is a good idea to buy an ordanance survey map of the area and get the Farmer/Landowner to mark their land boundaries on it. Let us know how you get on. E mail me if you want. As Steve suggested.
meandassey
Hiya Cranfield, how you doing? Yes, I suppose there wont be too much going on till harvest then? If I do find anything out about any other clubs/groups I'll email the contact numbers to you. Whereabouts are you in Kent? I could probably use some tuition in this business if its not too cheeky to ask! Good tip about marking the boundaries on an Ordnance Survey map, Ive bought a couple, so its now just a question getting out there and looking. dead-eye-dick
Hi Meandassey, I also am in Kent, and i know how hard it is to get a shoot, I found that if you are a member of BASC farmers are alot more agreeable. Due to the insurance you will be coverd by. Feel free to E-mail me if you want to chat/meet-up
