Cranfield
My SGC expires on 17th August, I sent off the renewal on 30th March, today I received a "Permit to possess Shot Guns", valid until 17th July 2018. Its on the same embossed brown paper and looks similar to a normal SGC, just no photo. The attached letter states that this is a, "temporary permit" and "The normal renewal process is continuing with your application and you will be contacted by a Firearms Enquiry Officer in due course". I find this a bit disappointing as I was expecting either a visit pre expiry , or an automatic renewal, as I have held a SGC since their inception, with no problems. "Firearms Enquiry Officer" is a new one on me, is this the new name for a Firearms Licensing Officer ?

belly47
don't panic, I had the same situation last month and felt the same as you. although I had the temporary for a few weeks prior to my licence expiring, my new licence arrived only four days after my old one expired. all things considered I thought that was not too bad. during the process whenever I sent an email chasing it up it was always responded to very quickly. on Wednesday evening I emailed them for a one for one variation on my firearms ticket, I had an email Thursday morning saying they had received it, and Thursday afternoon I had a phone call saying it had all been agreed and if I send in my licence they will send out the new one on receipt. they are improving a lot I feel from my recent experience.
