Anyone good with rifle calibers?

Recommended Posts

I have an old bullet which looks to be something WWII but I could be wrong. The base of the case,(where the primer sits) says "S67 - P - 6 -17". The bullet itself is a fmj type. Bullet is 27mm long, case is 56mm in length,(slightly shorter than a .270).

Anyone have any ideas what it is? Tried searching online but a lot of conflicting info.

Cheers!

From the text on the head it sounds like 1917 dated WW1 German Mauser S-patronen round...so 7.92x57 (8mm x 57 under another designation)

Two years younger than my Gew.98 rifle that this cartridge would have been made for.
