Bumble
Hi gents, I've got my AYA Yeoman in bits for a refurb, and the action is somewhat gunky inside. What's the best thing to soak/spray it with to help get rid of the old oil & other **** before I re-lubricate & assemble it? Cheers.

Pigeon Shredder.
Brake cleaner, the aerosol cans have plenty of pressure and blitz all the carp.

Pigeon Shredder.
Will brake cleaner damage colour case hardening? Not that l have noticed. I use it all the time on my SX3 when leaning out the trigger mech and slides and just lube up as normal after. Also clean up the Russian Purdy with it to no detrimental effect. MR. BROWN
2 stroke fuel and paintbrush. The oil component in the fuel remains to provide corrosion protection.
figgy
Whatever you decide to use do it over a container as lots of little pins in them and odd ones can fall out. I have used brake cleaner or a large tin of super solvent to blast the gunk out of actions in the past, then a quick blow with compressed air and re lube with fully synthetic motor oil as it won't gunk up or burn as easily with hot gasses as some lighter oils will. The colour case hardening I would be careful with and apply a coat of clear lacquer after your done to preserve it. WD 40 is a good degreaser and gentle on finished surfaces just not very good as a lubricant. Edited September 19, 2017 by figgy

And you smell like a petrol station forecourt every time you go out.
Rst1990
Spray it with a degreaser to get rid of the grease then re lube. You can buy a degreaser from your local gun shop.
