Pulsar N750A scope

I own the above scope, which I have found excellent to use. On the side of it, there is a Picatinny rail so that a range finder or an IR torch can be attached. I have the latter fitted. ( PBir)

I would now like to add a rangefinder as sold by customriflescopes. The problem I have is where I can attach this. The obvious and best place is on the picatinny rail so that it's as close as possible to the scope, but then the range finder would not be horizontal, and also, I wouldn't be able to use the IR torch, which is a must with this scope. One way would be to glue a small piece of picatinny rail to the top of the scope and fit the rangefinder on there, but I would imagine that this could make the warranty void.

I've thought about trying to attach the IR torch under the barrel, and low enough to avoid the moderator, but can't think of a way to do this.

Any idea's?

Possibly, providing the rangefinder can be used vertically and not horizontally. :good:

Depends on the rangefinder, mine works any way round, its just the read out is too.
It might need a picatinny riser block too, so it doesnt catch the scope.

Alternatively, you could use 2 of the double picatinny mounts strapped together to put your torch on top of the scope ,if you know what I mean?

The rangefinder will be one provided by customriflescopes. Looking at the rangefinder, I think it could be used vertically, only the numbers etc would be the wrong way round. It would have to be as close to the scope as possible, to allow for the laser beam to be adjusted to be in line with the reticule. I'm going to ask Thomas Jacks if my warranty would be void if I glued a small piece of Picatinny rail to the top of my scope.

I wouldn't go down the route of gluing things to your scope.

Does the built in torch come off at all? Is there nowhere else to screw a picatinny rail?

No, the built in IR is part of the scope body. There isn't anywhere else on the scope that I can screw a rail into. I'm going to see if I can fit a rail to the top and hold it in place with large cable ties.

Update: A rail can be held in place on top of the scope by means of two large plastic cable ties. I'll try it later and see how secure they will hold it.

The second one might work, and I've actually got one somewhere. The only issue I can see is that the rangefinder may be too far off the scope to align the laser 'pulse' with the reticule. I'll try it once my rangefinder has arrived. :good:

If it’s this one Steve http://www.customriflescopes.com/shop.html#!/Weapon-mountable-laser-rangefinder-5-800m-shock-wproof-NV-compatible-MK-V4-1z/p/72132906/category=13698432

says on add can be side mounted a friend has one and that’s mounted some way off from scope and get good readings

That's the one, apart from mine is rated for use with a .308. It's due to be delivered today, so I'll test it out. I only realised earlier that the rangefinder can still be used the proper way. if I can get the laser pulse to line up with the reticule, or near as dammit, that will be great.

You should be able to see the pulse through your nv scope anyway (at night) ?
As it will only line up with the centre of the  reticule cross hairs at the range you set it up at.
It will move up or down the cross hairs if top mounted, and side to side if side mounted, depending on the range.

Day time shooting will obviously be a bit more difficult, sorry if I sound like Im trying to teach you to suck eggs !

Edit, ignore that  Ive just thought ,youre putting it on a .308 with a long zero, so it would barely matter!

No problem. It's going on my .243 and it was recommended that I have the .308 version because of the recoil (not that harsh with a moderator fitted)

My rangefinder was delivered earlier, so I'll be seeing how it looks when mounted on the side of the scope/above the IR torch. Hopefully, there will be enough adjustment so that I can get the laser pulse in, or near the centre of the reticule. My intended 'targets' will be Foxes, so even is the pulse is not dead centre, it should still give me an accurate reading.

UPDATE: I fitted my rangefinder onto the top of my IR torch by means of the scope ring adaptor suggested by martyn2233 in an earlier post. It's close to the scope and I'm hoping that there will be enough adjustment on the supplied mount to be able to align the laser pulse with the reticule. I'm going to try this out tonight.

EDIT: Just tried the rangefinder and it aligns spot on with the reticule. This was only adjusted at a range of 40 yards, so will probably need doing a bit more when out in the field.
