I did read the "smaller gun makes a quieter noise" to start the dog off. I will see what's about over coming months, be a long time before the dogs even ready for shooting A .410 cartridge adaptor for a 12? motty
There really is no need for a specific gun for dog training. The easiest way to train a dog to shot is by using a second pair of hands. You concentrate on the dog, your assistant fires the gun. Easy. As I alluded to before, any gun will do. It need only be a single barrel.
clakk
Or do the tightwad ,take him to your local clay club and sit him in the carpark .Doesnt cost anything and he,l either get use to it or not atb
scotslad
Must admit I never see the point in the whole clay thing thing, far easier and better ways to introduce a dog to gunshot. And like someone said earlier u really don't want to be doing it before 9-12 months old so ears are full devolped and can handle the noise. As someone said I also can't see that much of a need, by the time ur shooting over a dog ur into quite advanced training so if u've done ur basics properly it shouldn't need much help
motty
I bought a cap gun to introduce my dog to bangs. I would fire it randomly whilst the dog was eating/playing indoors. I think that approach can work.
