jimcorbett
Major Coates advertised some paintings or sale about 18 months ago. I sent him an email recently but he has not been active on this site since then so I haven't had a reply. Anyone know how to contact him? masmiffy
The 'original' Major Coates' is sadly long gone so doubt it was him. He was the forefather of pigeon shooting and his book on pigeon shooting is one to read.

Old Boggy
I've handled The Webley 700 that Archie Coats bequeathed to Will Garfit and the barrels are so well worn, you could punch wads with them. However, the safety pins have been removed so will never be used again. That gun must have shot millions of cartridges and pigeons. Looking at one of Will's watercolours of Archie pigeon shooting as I write this. OB
the hitman
I met Archie Coats at the CLA gamefair at floors Castle Kelso in the late 80’s. He was being kept busy as the queue for his stand was rather long. He was clearly enjoying himself chatting and giving out advice to beginners like me.
