In southern Italy the immigration problem is huge. People simply wander off the boats, up the beaches and into the towns in their hundreds. They are uncounted and unregistered. The immigrants have no money and no way to buy food so they steal crops out of the fields, steal food from shops etc. The policy of look the other way and pretend none of this is happening has brought this about.
