It stands for Virtual Private Network, basically you connect to a VPN server and all your internet traffic goes through that server, so when you enter an address in your browser it goes through the server first, so you internet provider doesn't know what site you are on.

So how do you get a VPN? Where do you look?

It may well be Post Office "safeguard" that is causing my problems, but it seems other people who have Broadband providers (who are linked to BT) are also having problems! We cannot access Barclays Bank now!  Tried the Post Office Faults people and they confirm that whilst they are having problems with "Safeguard",  that is not necessarily the underlying cause....tearing my hair out! (What is left of it!)

You managed to get in touch with Post office customer service? Did you sell your soul to the devil?

Update! The Post Office Customer Service people (nice guy called Mohammed) rang me, and told me everything should now be ok, as they have removed all the "Enabled" filters from my Broadband account...................just tried it, and NOTHING has changed!  I,m pretty sure I,m not the only P.O user having this problem! Anyway, Plusnet calls, so I,m checking that route out now.
