  1. Yeah of course. I can definitely see the appeal. I guess it depends on the OP's motives.
  2. There's not much to gain from an eight bore over a modern 10 bore in terms of effectiveness with Non-lead ammunition. Unless you are also looking for the nostalgia you might find it is easier to go down that route?
  3. There are one or two films where someone is being threatened with a pump action. For dramatic effect they rack the action, So I assume it's now loaded and wasn't before. I can stomach that. But then as the tension builds they rack it again... No cartridge is ejected. Also. On any film where they pull out a fancy sniper rifle to pull of a mile and a half shot, why is the scope always something out of a christmas cracker?
  4. Surely the gamekeeper who asked you should organise this for you?
  5. Odd. I ordered a car part from German on Tuesday. It arrived this morning. No bother.
  6. Possibly post this on Stalking Directory. Roe, CWD and Muntjac are all in Suffolk/Norfolk so you could likely shoot all three and Red and Fallow if you looked for somewhere in that area and were willing to travel East.
  7. I did a bit of googling and it turns out you can pasteurise eggs without cooking them. Which I would have thought would be impossible so every day is a a schoolday. Thanks Fat Chap. Easy enough to do at home apparently and it doesn't affect the egg for cooking later so if you were really worried you could do that. https://sugargeekshow.com/recipe/how-to-pasteurize-eggs/ I don't think there's any need though other than your piece of mind.
  8. I suppose the proof is in the eating. Did she get the two bob bits?
  9. How on earth would you pasteurise an egg and not cook it? I probably would have washed the **** off them before bringing them in the kitchen, other than that I have eaten hundreds and hundreds of soft poached/boiled/fried duck eggs from my own ducks and from friends. Always been fine.
  10. I guess the security guard would have had to detain him, wait for the police to turn up and... Do nothing. Cut out the middle man. At least he got the TV back.
  11. maple, Sycamore' Cherry, Beech, Alder all food safe. Not sure about others.
  12. To check their age. Same as when they aren't wearing their mask. It's just harder because you can't see their chin. When they censor faces in the newspapers etc they cover the eyes, not the mouth so I'm not sure that ID ing someone with a mask is that much of a problem.
  13. I thought it was **** as well. My brother was crazing me to watch it. Unfortunately it didn't live up to any of the hype. Hacksaw Ridge was **** as well. I had to turn that off after the bully boy used the top half of a corpse as a shield. Utter bullocks.
  14. Personally I'd accept an all out ban on lead. I already shoot non-lead in my big rifle I use Steel and Tungsten in my shotguns and I use tin pellets in my airgun. I've yet to find a good alternative for the .22lr. I'll be sad to lose it but it will be worth it if all of the ******** posted on here and other forums stops. by and large the non-lead alternatives work and are viable. People are just too pig headed to accept them. If people start using them my hope is that they will actually realise that it's not as bad as they have been told or convinced themselves
  15. I threw a tin of beans at one once. It just bounced off the topsides. The intention was there but I think a good torpedoing would send more of a message.
  16. Well that and because the French have fished them to oblivion. Why do you think they want to be in our waters? We actually have some fish! The Spaniards are just as bad. All of our inshore fleet should be fitted with torpedos so when one of those big ****** trawls through your gear within a mile of our coastline you can legally sink the ******.
  17. You can knock back gloss varnish with fine wire wool and it looks really nice. Personally I use pure Tung oil for stuff like this. Those pieces will pull it in like hell though so be prepared to apply plenty of coats. I also sometimes wax over the top with a mixture of beeswax, carnauba and tung oil to finish.
  18. Haha!! Mines got a really heavy purse full of coppers in it. You wouldn't want it 'round your lughole.
  19. That was mentioned within the first few replies and Gas seal mentioned it a page ago.
  20. There is nothing "Dirty" about it. If there is then all of our shooting is dirty. I shoot them in my garden and around the farm with my rimfire for two reasons, one. They taste good. 2, they eat my bloody veg. They are worse than Pigeons.
  21. Because that would be illegal. There is no reason why he can't shoot gamebirds in his back garden if he wants. Personally I'd trap them and ring their necks like Rimfire says. Way more efficient. Annoyed I haven't thought to do that before.
