Electric Car performance

The biggest problem with electric cars to my mind is the lack of mileage from a full charge and the time to recharge . I would love an electric car ,but I think it will be a long time for me to change over from a petrol or Diesel engine ,not forgetting the higher cost of electric cars .

harnser .

I wonder how this is all playing out in the world of insurance stats? I've driven a few of the hybrids i8, X5 etc and it's really quite scary when you give the huge X5 a bit of welly and it takes off like a Porsche 911. Even a hybrid MPV - a BMW 220 E drive(?) - took off like a bat out of hell. I suspect at the moment these are all in the hands of sensible guys but in time they will filter down to less sensible types.

I have an Outlander Phev and fully converted to the hyrbid idea. The Outlander itself is pretty rubbish and MPG figures when on a long journey are so bad it still makes a normal diesel the better more economical option by far however as concept its great and once developed and used in propers drivers cars will be the savior of the big petrol engines imo and make can be used to make quick cars even quicker.

I have driven a couple of fully electric cars as well and they are pretty fun and nippy however you do not have any connection to the car and on a spirited jaunt through the country lanes missed the noise and feel of a proper petrol/diesel engine as such although the Tesla S is very cool can never see it being a real drivers car.
