tonker
A while ago I put up a post about what to do on the Island, many thanks for the replies we did nearly all of them. The reason we went up was to catch up with an old pal who I hadn't seen for twenty years, we got on like it was only yesterday and the bonus was that the wives who had never really met got on like a house on fire. The icing on the cake is that he used to do loads of stalking up there, on his own farm and on two estates. He was moaning about how they don't stalk and look after the reds like they used to. We used to shoot together and asked if I still did a bit, I confirmed I still did. Long story short I can have as much stalking on the estates and his ground as I want gratis. He takes 30 off his ground every year, but he only takes the ones that get into his trees, he leaves the rest. ( I think I may spend the next few winters up there lol) He also wants us to get a fishing boat and fish together as he can get a mooring in Salen for he thinks about £30 a year. Methinks I may have landed on my feet again!!!

wymberley
Nice one, Mate, enjoy. I went back up the autumn before last and revisited the places I knew from my stretch at Lossiemouth and also visited some of the ones I should have made the effort to see but didn't in that neck of the woods. With no local family ties now, I could be sorely tempted. However, my wife has ties and my age is against me so I'll have to settle for more visits. Kintyre - the mull of - is where he owns a farm.
tonker
Home now, but if you like red squirrels, we used Shap wells hotel as a B&B not knowing anything about it just booked for a cheap night on the way back. Anyway they have loads that come to see you in the wood not 100yds from the hotel just up past the old bath house.
