MC
Yes mate, That is the beauty of being a full member of the NRA, you get to play with all kinds of toys and you don't need any of them on your ticket  So it will be a .357 underlever but probably with .38 special ammo as it is a lot cheaper, A 12 bore semi with scope and slugs, a pistol if you want it. not sure what else they have but i'll ask next time I am at bisley. Possibly next weekend
dunganick
okay here is a suggestion for the competition at bisley: comp 1: Stalkers test. Any callibre, shot at 100 yards at a deer target if i can get hold of one (stuart is this something you can help with?) course of fire: 2 shots prone, 2 shots standing (double sticks allowed), 2 shots kneeling (double sticks allowed), 2 shots sitting (double sticks allowed), 2 shots off the bench no rests allowed except a sporting sling (this isnt aimed at you martin, but its how its always been shot at my club) basically winner takes all on this (prize tba) Comp 2: Bench rest shoot @ 100 yards any calibre to be shot over 5 shots at the PW prarie dog target, all shots on the a4 page will count. Smallest group (centre to centre) will win. Comp 3: to be shot at 300 yards at the standard targets provided and marked on score not group size. 2 sighters, 10 shots to count. Highest score wins. --------------------------- I will arrange targets and score sheets for, although this might take some radio comunication genious to get working smoothly. I realise on the bench rest shoot some calibres are at a serious disadvantage (.22lr) but i unfortunatly cant accomidate everyone. Even the .22lr will be good enough for the stalkers test though. any suggestions?
Dunkield
Any callibre, shot at 100 yards at a deer target if i can get hold of one (stuart is this something you can help with?) I have a few at home Nick I will do a stock take tonight We just need someone to get busy with a green felt pen so thay can be patched up nicley. Too many white/black dots in the K zone helps those shooting after you It also needs to policed by an RCO type person at the point, as fiddling about the sticks and gun can be a bit hairy. IMHO these tests are more fun than the bench rest "my hole is smaller than yours" sort of thing
Dunkield
OK I have... 6 deer targets that have somehow come out smaller than they should, so they are muntjac size, we could use those, scores will be lower but it will be the same for everyone. I can have a word with my man at work, and see if he do me some full size ones, I have one but we need more than that. IMHO the competition works best when 2 people shoot it at a time so we need even numbers of targets. Oh, and the patches need to be black/brown, green would be a complete miss
dunganick
we can work out how we shoot it on the day, as its difficult to gauge intrest in use of the 100 yards untill the day. if you could bring those targets that would be great, you can get deer skin coloured patches from the range office i believe. I will enquire on the day.
MC
Can you also work out how I can shoot it with open sights? I need some kind of aiming mark
dunganick
if the target sits in the centre of the target board are you able to use the Bull of the target to aim at? Would the deer be ok to shoot with iron sights? and im guessing the 300 yard standard target will be fine?
MC
A 300yd target is perfect, I can shoot the middle out of that It is just with a deer target I may not be able to see where to aim consistently, still I will give it a go. I may have to get a post foresight instead of an iris. Or I might just have to put a scope on the RPA instead
Dunkield
We could ask the BDS to make a 'special needs' deer target Or . . . just stick an orange/white/black/whatever dot in the kill zone. or . . . you can borrow one of my rifles
dunganick
tbh on the deer targets even with a scope you cannot see the scoreing rings (certainly not on any below 8x) its a case of memorizing the placement of the scoring zones. (normally put the verticle cross hair on the front leg and half way up the body.
MC
Stuart, That was a little uncalled for, after all it is not me who needs optical assistance to hit a target I will get around the problem and take the money from you :o It is not about seeing the scoring rings, you cant see them anyway. It is about centering on the bull consistently.

It will be my second year there so I don`t see why any others can`t make it. Go on, go on, go on.
Dunkield
The deer target thing is mildly hyperthetical at the moment, I haven't seen my man for few days and I am off my holidays on Monday, so we may need a plan B. I still have the 3/4 or 1/2 sized ones though. Talking of which, are people bringing targets along? I have a few and plenty of those orange stickers. It's always the little things like that that get forgotten, like running out of staples

flash
i have no chance of winning any of the comps so im going for some fun, using a lee enfield 7.62 on the deer and a 30 06 with open sights on the benchrest, should be fun :(
