figgy
The only gun with a known possible issue with fiber wad cartridges was the DT11 where its bore was near on 11 bore internally as the forcing cone ran all the way to the choke in one long taper. The two or three points of a mm extra in other back bored guns should not be a problem. I can only think the folks experiencing problems need to try a pattern plate with a nominal bore gun and see if there is a difference as it could just be a batch of poor wads. Most modern O/U shotguns sold today are over bored at 18.7 and have 3 inch chambers. The sooner clay shooting authorities ban plastic the sooner they will make guns that will suit the obturation for fibre wad cartridges and improve the cartridge itself to make it even more effective. Until that day plastic will always be better for high bird shooting." Don't think I'll hold my breath, but just settle for what I've found works for me in my guns. Thats my take too.
