Bumble
My shooting mate has recently acquired a Vitara that we are going to turn into a lamping wagon. It’s already lifted & has a set of Special Tracks on it, and isn’t too rusty. The plan is to remove the back seats & cut a hatch into the roof to shoot from. It’ll only be used for lamping & will be agri registered, so there’s no worries about it being overly road capable. He’s talking about putting a roof hatch from a bus onto it so we can flip it out & shoot. That sounds a bit OTT to me, but does anybody have any photos of similar efforts they’ve done or ideas how to do it?
Grandalf
Got a square hatch in my landy. Lifts out and stows away. Cut hole. Fit frame with upright edges. Hatch fits over this. Catches to hold in place. Sealed the frame with lots of waterproof sealant. Has never leaked. Or - Take it along to a boat yard and get them to fit a boat deck hatch. Totally waterproof. Jason_ox
We too have a vitara and have done exactly what you suggest. Also removed rear door for ease of in and out. Works well! We don’t use it on the road only on the farm.
