Tenge
Has anyone had any reloading issues with 45/70 what are the best loads and powders to use
Vince Green
Depends on what you are loading for, unless you are worried about Apaches or bears, most people download for target shooting. handloads.com or similar has lots of information, good place to start. Not many of the listed powders on the American websites are around in the UK these days, Unique gives gentle mild loads but often very accurate, a sweet lovely powder and not fussy about the odd grain here or there, 2400 is good for mid range loads but still very accurate. Reloader7 for the punchier loads. Edited October 26, 2018 by Vince Green
Walker570
I was going to suggest Re7 as well. Suggest you pull up Shooters Forum and have a look through the information there. Lots of 45-70 shooters on there but as said powders may be difficult to obtain here.

Are you talking about jacketed or cast lead bullets? Target or hunting? Light Springfield trapdoor or full-house Siamese Mauser loads? Black powder? Pyrodex? Smokeless? I have reloaded for three 45-70 rifles: 2 Marlins and a Ruger No.1 I have used Vit N130 under 300-460gr bullets. Currently I use Lovex’s DO63 (Made by Explosia), which is AA1680 by another name (they even put a sticker on the bottle, stating this.) It’s pushing a 460gr, gas-checked, cast bullet called Mjöllnir. These were non-reduced loads for “modern Marlins” and stout loads for a Ruger No.1. I haven’t tried reduced loads (I have a 45Colt for that) Edited October 27, 2018 by Bangbangman
Tenge
I am looking for good load data for both cast and jacketed bullet as I am only just starting out with a Marlin SBL
mowdy
Reloader 7 for full power marlins and 19-20 grs of 2400 for cast work very well in a 45-70 and in the .444marlin👍
Imperfection
I use 42 grains of Ramshot Exterminator behind a hard cast 405 grain lead bullet which makes it look like a broadside from a battleship when fired through an 18" barrel. You get a ball of fire out the end of the barrel when fired. Definitely not subtle-recoil is quite hard to say the least, but fun.
