I watched last night, it was supposed to show Big Game hunting/shooting to Stacey who not necessarily an anti, but was not pro hunting as she had not been on any type of shoot before.

It was a disaster, the first cull was a 12 year old American boy with his dad, both bow hunters, the boy took the shot which was from a hide at a pond where the animal was drinking, hit the animal high on the shoulder and it ran off, they searched for the animal for several hours but did not find it.   The second cull was  another American, this time with a scoped rifle at about 150 yards using sticks as a stand, hit the animal a wilderbeast, again a poor shot, the animal ran off and 4 hours later the game warden and dogs found the wounded beast and finished the kill.  The third cull was again taken by an American with scoped rifle at a Zebra which dropped on the spot.  The hunters paid a great deal of money to shoot these animals, and the meat and money does go to the locals and Stacey was taken to see the good side of hunting, however there was no way that this programme did the shooting and hunting any favours at all.

Really bad programme in more ways than one! The odd thing was it had a vibe of trying to justify trophy hunting - and then put in two examples that show one of its awful sides. Lots of insightful questions that should have been asked but weren't and some pretty dreadful shooting skills on display. It gets worse; iplayer's 'up next' suggestion? Winterwatch.
