Si-Bore
Can someone advise me the easiest way to prevent the magazine tube from jamming on my Beretta A303 as it sometimes gets stuck if I insert a 3rd cartridge to check the holder is full (after I have lost track). I have to eject the cartridges and let the breech close fast to release the spring inside the magazine tube. Cheers Si
berettaman1
Hi bud, yes the problem you have with your 303 is really nothing more than the magazine tube is getting clogged and the clearance between magazine tube and plunger is now dry and you have a build up of light carbon, Remove trigger ***, only one pin holding it in,.... remove fore end and barrel,....now with trigger *** out depress cartridge plunger as far into magazine tube as far as it will go and spray in A very light oil such as Rocket 40 or simular. Dont use car engine oil.!! with stock held vertically push the cartridge plunger in and out untill you will feel all origanal resistance has gone,.. reasemble after drying off excess WD oil and bingo. dunganick
or it might be that your shotugn was crimped as it was once a 5 shot gun and the crimp is just enough to cause a cartridge to stick in it.
Si-Bore
Thanks guys! Will have a go at the trigger removal tonight and give the tube a clean. Si
njc110381
My Xtrema does that. I just fire the gun as normal and it cycles the next round ok! I guess the recoil of the first shot is enough to release the cartridge from wherever it's stuck, it always seems to work for me!

Think I have just discovered that it has been crimped. There is a ring of indentation approx 2/3 of the way down the mag tube.
BlaserF3
May I suggest you look at this link. http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=101242 It gives complete dissasembly for most Beretta autos.
Si-Bore
Disassembled and reassembled and nothing went wrong (yet) - miracle!! Si
dunganick
the crimp will be present on any shotgun of any age, as most guns use a 5 shot tube converted to 3 shot from factory. however given the age of the 303 it is possible that it was a 5 shot out of the factory and come the change in law was crimped by a gun smith (blunted pipe cutter was a favoured technique) and that it wasnt quite done enough to prevent the cartridge from sticking in it. Cheers Nick I may need some alterations if it poses a problem. Was at least interesting to strip down the gun giving me chance to clean it and view the working parts. I'm just suprised it went straight back together and I didn't lose any bits! Si

Si-Bore
Hey Berettaman The spring does feel better now but as I pushed in the spring cap I could feel that it was almost sticking at the end when I pressed firmly reinforcing the belief that it may be the crimp jamming the cartridge. I am going clay shooting (for the 1st time) tonight so will test it out then. Thanks for your advice and will let you know how it goes.
