The Grouse Problem

Quite enjoyed this and recognised one or two faces, especially the 'keeper from Ousby Moor. At 3.08 there is a view of the Northern end of the Pennines with Crossfell dominating the horizon, as seen when driving along the A686 after climbing out of Langwathby and heading toward Hartside. I live in a little village nestled just below and to the left of Crossfell, and see this view on an almost daily basis. 🙂

I shot on Ousby moor many years ago. A very pleasant fifty brace day if I recall correctly.

One other memorable feature was a Roman road built across a bog. There were interwoven rushes and saplings which I was told were of Roman origin. I’ve not seen anything like it elsewhere.

Sounds like it was a good day out.

I was supposed to be out on Malmerby moor tomorrow but my guns have not arrived back in time so will be a little bit higher in Cumbria shooting partridge with the 20g!

It really is a lovely area of Northern England!

It is; a bunch of us are shooting just outside ( on the edge of Hartside ) Melmerby tomorrow. 😉
