Arron yeates
When will jsb .177 slug be out mate? Also like the competition from jsb ... noticed theres 200 in the pack aswell not 100 like fx hybrids
villaman
Same as H&N slugs 200 per tin cant see the point of .177 slugs imo
Arron yeates
Why cant you? Currently fx hybrids are being developed and tested at 10 grain .
villaman
True , but not buying them at stupid fx prices , that’s for sure
Ultrastu
I can see the point of a .177 slug . Im imagining a 10 grn hybrid with a bc of around 0.05 (so better than almost any pellet of any cal ) fired at 930 fps or 19.5 fpe .and still having 12 fpe at 85 yds . And enough velocity to expand the little fragile pill on rabbit skull contact . Compared to a fac 30 fpe .22 pellet shooting 16 grn jsbs . It starts with 10 fpe less .but retains almost as much energy at 100yds 11 fpe v 12 but 125 fps more velocity so can make much better use of that energy in terms of expansion . Imagine if your only options were .177 slug at 20 fpe or .22 pellet at 30 fpe The .177 is flatter, faster, bucks the wind better .uses less air , is quieter and has less fallout risk and kills way better every thing it hits . Why wouldnt u want that .?
villaman
Because I can shoot .22 slug with .09 bc at 940 FPS I can see.177 slug @10gr would be good in sub12 though
Arron yeates
Im only planning on .177 for sub 12. But agree stu the .177 will do everything youve mentioned. What i love about my .177 at tge minute is that it shoots h&n barracuda match 10.4 grain at 710 fps which is heaver thqn most and fast keeping the stopping power down range like a .

But if it is ,then with the estimated bc i mentioned it would have the same energy at 40 yds as my current fac .177 with 8.4 grn exacts . Which is pretty impressive and would be a huge game changer for all sub 12 users. I cant see a .22 slug (even at say 15 grns )being accurate launched at 580 fps .so the .177 would rule the cal war . villaman
177 still rules in sub 12 pcp now

figgy
When the slugs in .177 arive I'll see how they perform before getting a .177 barrel kit for the impact.
Arron yeates
Do these jsb slugs need a slug barrel or are they soft enough for a standard barrel with a choke
figgy
Not sure Arron but watch the video online by monkey something or other. He's been testing them. Even at .177 speeds useless for expansion as only the hole in the end got a little bigger. The only advantage would be better BC. But when I looked into it in .22 the weight outweighed any advantages over pellets. FAC is where the slugs reign.

Ultrastu
Does that include a standard fx smooth twist BARREL - not liner ?
Arron yeates
Yeah i think it does mate. Only neilson slugs etc need to slug liner most the new ones dont need to as there softer
Ultrastu
There is a difference between an fx st pellet barrel and a fx stx pellet liner . Not one of the slug liners The mk1 impacts and wildcats have the st pellet barrels. The mk2 s have liners . How do these slugs go in the barrels ? In .22 and .25 - (most interested in )
figgy
I think I've saw something from an American youtuber where the older FX smooth twist barrel shot the newer slugs very well. Lot less friction and just enough in the choke to put the spin on them. If I come across it or remember which video I'll post it or a link. Leach
When pellets come on the market there's so many to choose from prices as well cheaper they are likely no to be so good some just jam in the barrel when trying to fire
