buze
So, when I put my hand on her neck gently, as she's just borderline sleeping, she'll start making 'heavy breathing' noises and gently fall asleep. Kind of like a cat purring. My wife calls it the "hand of dad" effect -- and it's really sweet -- she's done that since she was tiny pup; but I haven't seen any mention of dogs 'purring' -- she's clearly super relaxed and it's clearly a happy noise, but I never heard of it! Saltings
a friends lab would fall asleep alongside him in the hide before first light goose shooting both made a contend sound and then I couldn't tell who was snoring louder 🤣

Konnie
My yellow lab makes noises when pampered in a relaxed state, if I ask her what she has to say she will mostly talk back to receive more fuss. The other dog doesn't do a thing.
serrac
Mine has a sound like a very gentle growl when he is anticipating something good - maybe a walk but mostly food - he is a lab after all... :-)
