Dunkield
Had a quick search and couldn't find anything usefull, ebay is full of them, so: Any recommendations? Any to avoid? I would like a choice of lenses, probably yellow/orange for darker days when glasses are compulsary. I don't realy need sunglasses I have enough of those already. chunk
I use Topgun premiers. They come in a compartmentalised case with five different shades of lense that simply clip in and out. Only cost about 25 quid from my local gunshop.

pin
It makes you look like that bloke down the clay ground with the krieghoff and all the gear but no idea, however Oakley M-Frames with decent lenses get my vote. Personally I have the vented lenses (you need them to not mist up) with HI Persimmon for very low light. They increase the contrast and filter blue light to increase depth perception - amazing. I also have the VR28 Black Iridium's too, they filter blue to increase depth perception in bright light conditions but have the Iridium coating to reduce glare. Perfect combination I think, I looked for ages before choosing this combo, they really are that good.

Not sure if they are same ones, but my mate bought a set of Top Gun ones and they have scratched like hell in no time at all, it maybe that he is also a bit careless with them of course. The ones I will buy will almost exclusively for doing registered shoots when it isn't sunny but they insist you wear something , other than that I have my normal brown lens polarised sunnies. It sounds like there are 2 options, spend lots of money and get good ones, or buy cheap and be carefull with them.
Spaniel
I have had my Topgun ones around Two years now and they are still like new. To be honest I dont wear them all of the time...but they do the business for 20ish pounds Cheers

They are about a year old and still sparkling. Dont know how they would respond to being stuffed in a shooting jacket pocket full of grit and coins, but i tend to look after my stuff anyway. Thats not to say they havent had the odd misshap, but they have remained unscathed.
shaun4860
oakley M-frames for me too althought the top gun ones come highly recommended quick point tho....i have a left master eye but shoot right handed and therefore close left eye.....unless you get the wrap around ones the split lenses will impair your vision if you suffer the same problem.....just a thought
Dunkield
OK last question before I part with money. The Top Gun ones, how high is the frame across the top of the lens, when you are wearing them? The reason I ask is I have a very nice pair of Ray Bans, polarised, I bought them for all round use, turns out when I am shooting with them on, when I look up all I see is the bar across the top. And no, I don't want a pair of glasses like the snooker bloke

pin
Stuart, the reason I recommend the M-frame is it's specifically designed so there is nothing in your vision to take your eye away. The top gun ones I have tried, seemed a bargain for £25 for 5 pairs and a case but they don't sit right on my nose, nor anyone else that's tried mine, and there's no adjustment on them. If there is anything in my field of view it takes my eye away from the target (I shoot left eye closed) and my scores drop. Since using the Oakleys' my scores have improved beyond where they were before getting them. Might be a confidence thing, most things with shooting are but I don't much care why the improvements come, as long as they stay
paul1966
whilst on the subject of glasses, watching some shooting on tv i noticed a few people had peices of card each side of the glasses i assume its to cut down peripheral vision. apart from looking a bit daft does it really improve your shot? pin
DTL / Trap shooters use them to shield their peripheral vision from distractions from the shooters either side of them.
plinker
i have 2 pairs of topgun glasses the premier pair were good value but the premeir plus pair that have inserts for perscription lenses literally fell to bits when changing the coloured lenses .if you dont use the inserts the premier plus are ideal because you will not see over the frames when trap shooting etc but dont buy them if you intend to use perscription lenses inside them. plinker

And no, I don't want a pair of glasses like the snooker bloke B) Stuart, it's a shame that you didn't mention glasses on Sunday. In the car were Mrs L's Top Gun Premier (one frame and five changable lenses). They do have a pronounced 'top bar', but if you wear your glasses close-in to your face, they're at eye-brow level. But, push them a little further down the nose and then they can obscure vision. So it will depend on how high your nose is and how you wear them. However, I was using Top Gun Elite which are frameless. They do cost a bit more but that for five full pairs of glasses (clear, two Hi-light & two Lo-light), not inter-changable lenses. Oh, and my poor shooting really shouldn't be blamed on the glasses! They're not the best quality on the market, but they do do the job. I only use them for shooting but do occasionly drop them and no scratches yet. Which is more than I can say about my Oakley Iradium Lenses day to day Shades. Dunkield
Thanks Lefty and all for the replies. After having a good poke round the web yesterday I settled on a pair of Beretta glasses in 'persimmon' which looks like orange to me (the same colour as those blokes who could really shoot) B) They weren't expensive, so if they don't work out they can go in the bin. I veered away from multiple lens options as I don't like variables confusing my mind. I will let you know how they fare.
