What would be your dream .22 and .223 setups be?

Come on, I need some gun porn suggestions for my anticipated FAC.

I have to say there is an attraction to the SGC V22 thingy but I might look like a bit of a mentalist with it.

Images of gun porn taken from guntrader. Oh yes, sound moderator would be essential for both calibres.

The top one looks like a toy, the bottom one looks like a target rifle.

Does that help in any way? :)

Don't know about ultimate setup as I have never had to think about it, Cooper seem to make some well liked rifles.

What sort of thing are you after? hunting rifles, or a more urban terrorist look?

.223 has to be the steyr scout with a custy scope ontop

I think I had already made my mind up on the Steyr Scout - I want a short barrel though with a dirty big dustbin moderator.

So what scope would you recommend? I am thinking something with nigh vision.

StuartP,

Have you got any info about "Cooper" guns - yes it would be for hunting and urban terrorism etc.

Buy the most expensive one you can't afford. Start reloading. Buy a fancy Mod, which type is personal choice (I'd got for a strippable one). Scope.. Depends what you want to do, big three really if you've plenty to spend Swaro, S&B, Nightforce. I'd go for the archer clip on night vision unit.

Now, for the .223....

B) Kidding. But if you've a lot to spend and aren't going to go custom that's what I'd do.

I'm working on building mine. I'm going to use the boyd's thumbhole varmint stock in pepper laminate (same as on the remington 700 and savage R93 thumbhole guns). I want to stick a savage action in it. Unfortunately savage only offers a 1:9" twist barrel for their 223. So I need to put another barrel in it with a 12" twist for 35-50 gr bullets. For a 'dream' gun that would be a Pac Nor 1" tapered barrel. On my more realistic gun I think it will be an eabco accuracy barrel.

Now I'll top it with a swarovski 6-24 (dream rifle) or a Bushnell elite 4200 6-24 (realistic).

Lastly I'll load up some 37 or 43 gr double HP calhoon head to ~3600 fps and call it a day.

Mungler,

for .223

Go for an RPA quadlite action with a border stainless barrel, fitted in a system gemini aluminium stock. You can have all the parts any colour you wish.

System Gemini

and in .22

a G & E Challenger

G & E Challenger

Both can be fitted with the most expensive scopes that a solicitor can afford B)

Nice guns I am sure, but they are just too gay.

I really do think that the .22 should be semi auto (and silenced) but I know there is divided opinion about .22 semi auto and single shots.

What is the best .22 semi auto (silenced) set up? And just how badly off the mark could it be by comparisson to single shot jobbies?

As for the .223 I think it's the Steyr Scout - they do some sort of Elite Tactical mentalist version. If I can't shoot the gun straight the foxes will at least know I am properly tooled up and ready for action. Once they tell their mates and don't come back that's half the job done.

Personally I wouldn't bother with a semi, I would spend the money trying to find a new or nearly new Sako Finnfire .22 and Tikka M595 in .223 and then get good scopes + rings.

But if you want to be different from the rest, and make a bit of an impression, these boys may make you one up in .223 B)
