markm
Hi. We have a loads of feeders with red lids. The barrels themselves are fine but the plastic lids have been faded and are starting to turn brittle with the UV. Does anyone know a supplier or come up with their own solution? Down South
Had the same. I found cheap orange builders bucket (99p) from b&q pushed over the top work well and don’t blow off. We have 2 sizes of lid, the bigger black lids last well, it’s the smaller red ones that perish.

I’ve got some black lids 20+ years old. My first batch of red ones are around 5 years old and they are starting to go.
Down South
I’ve only got a few red tops but they all split and let water in. Now they have the builders bucket jammed on top and no more leaks.
jall25
Another good thing to try is spare wheel covers
Balotelli
Just a thought and maybe impractical. As was so rightly pointed out the UV is wrecking them. Flat roof "paints/compounds" are designed to withstand UV so might be worth giving the lids a coating. Might be a little tacky for a while but will eventually "dry out".
