Stealth Stalker
The Peltman asked me to accompany him stalking early Saturday morning, he picked me up at 6am & we set off to his stalking wood, on arrival he handed me the rifle, went through the safety procedure & wished me luck. I was expecting just to tag along & glean a bit a bit of experiance & do a bit of filming We checked the wind direction & headed round the wood stealthily, glassing through the dense woodland looking for Munties. An hour & a half in, we hadn't seen a thing which wasn't surprising as the pigeon shooters a few fields away were banging away like lunatics, the farmer nearby was having 10 minute interval tipper deliveries & to cap things off we saw 2 dogs running riot through the wood unattended, at one point they passed by 10 foot away oblivious to the 2 human trees next to them  We decided to move away from the stray dogs & head deeper into the wood where Pelty had put up a high seat, as I got up the top I caught a glimpse of something that I dismissed as a hare or rabbit, about 10 minutes later from the area where I saw the movement a large doe Muntie appeared as if by magic, the old ticker started to pound a little heavier now, Pelty was on the video camera & we were both urging her to move in to a small clearing about 40 yards away, where I had an un obstructed shot. She obliged & when I was sure of the shot I steadied my breathing & squeezed the trigger. She lurched forward & stumbled in to a ditch hidden from view, for a split second I thought I'd balls it up but Pelty put me at ease & confirmed she was down She was stone dead with a perfectly placed shot from the Tikka .243 I then performed the gralloch under the watchful eye of Pelty talking me through it stage by stage. I've been like a dog with 2 tails all weekend, unable to wipe the smile from my face, Pelty's bringing her round tomorrow for me to butcher. Pelty thanks for taking me out stalking & giving me the oppertunity to shoot my first Muntjac Stealth Stalker

the pelt man
Swings and roundabouts Thursday i had a call from SS asking if i wanted to join him in the quest to reach the big 200 pigeon that he had nearly got. I jumped at the chance but i think i might have hinderd his goal rather than help but all good fun anyway. On Friday night i got a call did i want to go and help get Foxy on his shoot near by, again i jumped at the chance, we saw 3 Fox's, two together which bolted to the sound of the shop brought call, then another which came to the screams of SS's wing mirror on his landy when being rubbed with a wet bit of polystyrene, i'd think i'd scream after being rubbed with said bit of poly after SS has spat on it, but back on track, Foxy started to come in but left with something else on his mind. So we went home with only 6 Rabbits that had been shot while looking around. In fact i think they were a shooting test for Me by SS after he had seen me on the pigeon the day before but i passed with flying colours. When we had finnished, around 10.30pm. I asked if he would like to come stalking for a couple of hours in the morning as i was free, but had to be back for 11am. This was only fair after the fun i had over the last 2 days, not that i wouldn't think of asking anyway. Realy looking forward to the Ferreting we have lined up over the winter. Any way the moral of this story is give and take and your have a lot more fun. Cheers SS, looking forward to the Pigeon pate and burger you have made. Lunch tomorrow I's think. catcherpelt
What just a few thousand acres are you hoping to open a wild life safari park, you will have to let everyone know on PW and invite them down for a festive day Stalking, Ferreting, pigeon shooting and then we can finish the day and the local ,
