redial
Thinking of buying one. Any recomendation or perhaps an alternate. It's just pocket knives and the odd fixed blade. Nothing industrial. Thanks. Edited October 31, 2020 by redial Error
JohnfromUK
I prefer a diamond stone such as these https://www.dmtsharp.com/ which are widely available in the UK. Huge range of sizes, coarseness grades etc. available from a single small pocket stone to large sets of bench stones. There are other makes other than DMT, but I have found DMT work fine for me. Yep, 6" by2" 'Fine' is ideal. Not cheap so I use the standard aluminium oxide for the carbon steel knives.
figgy
Waterstones are expensive and need constant re flatting. Spend as much time trying the stones surface as honing the blades. Unless you want to start shaving with your pen knives a diamond hone set is more than adequate.
