Which .243

I have a Tikka T3 Lite synthetic with a blued barrel, in .243 calibre. I did not want a stainless one because my T8 moderator covers most of the barrel anyway. The T8 is a great mod'

I have a Kahles 4-12x50 Scope attached which, although a bit expensive, is brilliant.

I have shot many foxes with this rifle and it's a very acurate one. The other one I would recommend is a Sako 75, which I use in 22-250 calibre. I use a Shmidt & Bender 8x56 Scope and T8 mod' on this one.

Both of these rifles are excellent and will give you great accuracy straight out of the box.

I agree with you Steve -I use a .243 Sako 75 III in Varmit Heavy Barrel with a Swarovski 3-12x50mm Scope, A T8 Mod and a Harris bipod, it is a supurb set up and shoots like a dream straight out of the box.

A T8 mod really quietens its down, but they are prone to rust if you dont look after them - I am just about to do a Test on a new Moderator from CS Airrifles and Firearms (http://www.csfirearms.co.uk/ ) and will do a full review on here once the tests are complete.

When I get a 6.5x55 I'm planning to get a Tikka or Sako. I've pestered loads of people for info on a wide range of rifles, and it seems that the Tikka (apart from adding some tacky plastic parts that still function perfectly) or Sako are the only rifles I haven't heard anyone complain about! I don't know a lot about scopes. I've looked into mods too and the T8s can't be stripped to clean them. This detail put me off a bit, so after a great deal of homework I found this.. http://www.wildcatrifles.co.uk/ ..What do you think? I like it!

Like NJC I'm also on the look-out for a 6.5x55 (in left-hand), and Tikka and Sako seem the most obvious choice, although not necessarily the best choice (I'm more likely to end up with an H-S Precision/Montana Rifleman/Mauser M03, once I've made my mind up).

Can someone reiterate JohnGalway's comments about Tikkas, for my reference?

ask johngalway about the tikka then ?

Really? Tell me more! Was it a synthetic stocked model by any chance? It seems that most makers have problems with these, so I'm going for wood!

I use a Tikka T3 Hunter in .243 a T8 mod (larger centrefires reqire the expansion area to be fairly large to be effective) with a Meopta 7 x 50 scope (excellent glass for the money but only if you like fine reticles) and a Harris bi-pod. Using 80gn Federal Powa Shok rounds the rifle will do 3 round 100yd groups of below .75" (when my brother is shooting it  )

IF you had come to the Bisley bash you could have seen (and if you asked him nicely) shot Henry_D's 6.5 Tikka T3 with a Wildcat mod

Drop him a line if you want an opinion on the gun/mod.
