I suspect a lot of places are holding back for the Oxford vaccine because it will be a lot easier to store and administer. Considering the numbers involved they are going to have to really crack on to get through all the people they have to.

The 'predictor', which I suspect is speculative suggests late April/early May for me as a 60-65 age group.

Considering the numbers involved they are going to have to really crack on to get through all the people they have to. This is what I have and it looks like we are waiting first on NHS priorities. The PCN are instructed by NHS England when they will get a delivery of vaccine. As of yet our PCN has not been given a delivery date, however, we are hopeful that our first date will be confirmed very soon. Because of our geography we border lots of other PCN's,which, to add to complication are also part of other CCG's (clinical commissioning groups) These areas have had different delivery dates, hence why we all know of local people (Bristol, North Somerset etc) who have had the vaccine. It is likely that our first delivery will be the Pfizer vaccine (unless another vaccine is approved by MRHA in the very near future) The Pfizer vaccine has to be stored at -70 and can only be delivered to one venue within each PCN. Once it has been delivered we have 3.5 days to give 975 vaccines. When we have our first delivery date the first priority group will be the >80 yr olds and care home staff. However, our PCN has circa 66,000 patients, there are way more than 975 patients who fit this criteria. Each individual surgery will be responsible for prioritising and booking these vaccines, unfortunately not everyone eligible will be able to get one in the first batch. I can assure you that as soon as we have a date all the surgeries will be contacting those eligible to book an appointment as it likely that there will be a very short time between confirmation of delivery and actual delivery. There is strict guidance as to the order of who should be vaccinated when. Therefore, for those under 80 you will be called for vaccination in order of pre ordained priority. This is going to take many months, however, please be assured we will be doing this as quickly as possible, whilst still maintaining as near normal primary care service that we can, during the busiest time of our 'normal' year.
