chrisjpainter
Premiership: Exeter Chiefs 12-13 Northampton Saints - Simmonds fails to take late conversion - BBC Sport The clock's red, Exeter have the try and now the chance to kick for the conversion to win the game. The kick never takes place, because Saints players charge down and kick the ball off the tee and out. It's accepted by the ref because he deemed 'he'd started his run up with a movement of the shoulders'. Seriously? Is that genuinely how it works, or is this a case of a ref being over punctilious with the rules? Either way, what a way to lose a game! This ref and Exeter have got form. A couple of years ago he was involved in an absurd bit of reffing, again right at the end of a match that again led to Exeter losing. He was blatantly at fault that time, what about this one?
chrisjpainter
Edit: found it! It is a daft decision. He moved his shoulders? that's part of his settling motion. He'd done it twice before actually starting his run up.
Mice!
That can't be right? He moves his feet but they are already on him? I don't generally follow club stuff, but I'll be recording the highlights to see what's said.
