Keith
Just bought a Panasonic Lumix via Amazon for just under £200 - great camera. 12x zoom and great ability to take pictures at speed on the burst setting. Got some good shots of a Spitfire doing victory rolls over bentley Priory on Battle of Britain day. It's light to carry around but v adapable. henry d
Do you just want something that fits in your pocket or a full blown bells and whistles job ??
ShaggyRS6
A Nikon D2X is what I use

myuserid
I just purchased a canon ixus 75, they are very small have a huge screen and are one of the best cameras out there at the moment. Google it and you will find plenty of reviews. Cost £140 from eBay.
Hardy
For the best reviews of all cameras have a look at DP Review. As Henry said it very much depends on what you want to do with it. I use a canon 20D with an array of lenses which means my camera bag huge! It all costs a fortune but I do some professional work so it's got to be done. The 'starter' model canon SLR with standard lens will come in under £500 witha reasonable memory card. At the other extreme I bought the missus a simple 5mp point & shoot Fuji job with a reasonable zoom lens the other week for £50 from http://morgancomputers.co.uk/ which does her fine. Their stock varies a lot as its reconditioned, end of range or box damaged so its a bit hit & miss as to what they have in but the prices make it worth looking. malkiserow
I like the Cannon 300D for more serious stuff..... newer version is the 400D or maybe another but for quick snaps and fit in the pocket job...I like the IXUS ..... mine is an old 500 and it works a treat. henry d
As soon as it`s says Canon it`s good in my eyes, I bought a Powershot A80 years ago and it hasn`t let me down. You must have a few bob to spend if thats your price range 40D is on Santas list for me

Hardy
I'd like to add the latest canon to my shopping list but dont think he'd be that generous (and I know my bank manager wouldn't!!) http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controll...p;modelid=15710 The price tag I hear you cry ..... just £6k ... ouch
Bryn
My son just purchased a Praktica DCZ 5.8 from Tesco's only £60.00, pictures seem fine and very easy to use, also comes with usb cables & AV cable soft case. Really depends on how serious you are?
