oowee
Credit where credit is due Alok did a fantastic job managing and refereeing COP. He might not have achieved everything we might hope for but he has moved the dial forward. Great to see someone putting his heart and soul into the task. chrisjpainter
He had a shoddy hand and an impossible job but did his best to move mountains. Ed Miliband was full of praise for him too, which has enraged the Corbynites, who are labelling him a traitor to the red cause. If you're angering the left, you must be doing something right. JohnfromUK
I think he has worked very hard at it - and he has also done more than his fair share of the Radio 4 Today programme interviews in the mornings over the pandemic period. Always seems both polite and cool when pressured in interviews.
Weihrauch17
What a farce and he flew to 30 odd countries without any restrictions before hand whilst the Plebs were impisoned, nobody in the real world is interested in COP 26. Not remotely impresssed by his crocodile tears, probably acting for a seat in the Lords. Mankind can't control the earth's temperature, India and China the only two with any sense. Please don't take this as an attempt to excuse the likes of those who fly shorthall flights for shear convenience - but if a member of the government, etc, has to genuinely take flights from one part of the world to another, with some regularity in order to fullfil their job role - I am more than happy for them to do it, even if its climate related. It like criticising scientists stationed in the artic to study climate change for flying there - what did you expect the guy to do? Walk to 30 diffrent countries? There's a world of difference between Alok Sharma doing the legwork as part of his Government role in charge of COP26 and, oh I don't know, say...Man Utd flying for an away game in Leicester as happened last month!
