Dave at kelton
Got fed up of my skinny, single thread call lanyard so thought I would spend a couple of hours making a new one. First attempt so needs a little improvement at the join but reasonably happy with the result.
Diver One
Good work. I had a bit of a go during lockdown. It was a bit! got myself leather "drover type" hat at the shooting show, but it needed a neck strap thing got some paracord ( didn't realise there were different qualities!....binned the first lot as it was only good for bootlaces) so,it has a funky knot to fasten the two ends together along with a sliding knot to tighten it up. Even though I say so myself, it works very well Ill post a couple of pics later
WalkedUp
Looks great for the marsh, that level of dexterity would be far too fiddly for me!
Spr1985
Looks like a good effort Dave. How did you learn how to make them?
Diver One
This is the drovers hat/neck string thing I made. The smaller knot slides, the larger one is fixed

That’s a nice knot on the Drovers Hat. I Looked at YouTube for the square knot and played about with a few basic dog whistle lanyards. Then had a think about it and worked out how to do it on this scale using green with fluorescent orange as the core. Not entirely happy with the closure and need to improve it but locked off with superglue. Also misjudged the amount of green paracord required so had to graft some in. Otherwise it will do the job. If I do another it will be far better and probably quicker.
Spr1985
Ah cool, YouTube us many uses if you know what you’re looking for, I had no clue it was called a square knot, if I’d looked I’d have assumed it was some sort of weaving 🤣🤦♂️
Diver One
The slider is a Celtic Button knot....the other isn't! I think it may be a "Turks Head"
